How Grammist handles your information
This page explains what we collect when you visit Grammist, why we collect it, and what choices you have. If a term here doesn’t make sense, email us at hello@grammist.com and we’ll explain it in plain terms.

Information we collect
We collect information in two ways: what you give us directly, and what your browser sends automatically when you visit.
Information you give us directly. If you use our contact form or email us, we receive whatever you include, typically your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this only to reply to you and don’t add it to a marketing list unless you separately opt in to one.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our server and the tools we use record standard technical data: your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, and how you got here (for example, from a search engine or another site). We use this to understand how the site is used and to fix problems, not to identify you personally.
Analytics
We use [EDIT: name your analytics tool, for example Google Analytics] to understand how visitors use Grammist: which pages are popular, how people navigate the site, and roughly where visitors are located by country or region. This data is aggregated and isn’t used to identify you individually.
If you’re using Google Analytics, note that Google may process this data under its own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising
Grammist may display ads served by [EDIT: name your ad network, for example Google AdSense]. These networks may use cookies or similar technology to show ads based on your browsing activity across different sites, not just Grammist. We don’t control this data directly, it’s governed by the ad network’s own privacy policy.
You can manage ad personalization for many networks through Google’s Ads Settings or the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out tool.
Third-party links
Some pages link out to dictionaries, style guides, or other outside sources to back up an entry. Once you click through, you’re on a site we don’t control, and their privacy practices apply, not ours. We’d recommend checking any site’s own policy before sharing information there.
Data retention
We keep contact form submissions and emails only as long as needed to handle your request, then delete them. Aggregated analytics data (which isn’t tied to an identifiable person) is kept longer, since it helps us track trends over time rather than track individuals.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have specific legal rights over your personal information, including the right to request a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or opt out of certain kinds of data use.
- If you’re in the European Economic Area or UK, these rights come from the GDPR.
- If you’re a California resident, these rights come from the CCPA.
To make a request, email hello@grammist.com with what you’d like us to do. We’ll respond within the timeframe required by the applicable law.
Children’s privacy
Grammist isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone in that age group. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@grammist.com and we’ll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. We won’t make material changes without posting an update here first.
